Northshore Fire Appoints New Commissioner

The Northshore Fire Department has appointed a new member to its Board of Fire Commissioners.  Kenmore resident, Suzanne Greathouse, was selected to fill the vacant Position No. 2 at the December 4th meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners.

Announcement of Fire Commissioner Vacancy

The Northshore Fire Department, serving the cities of Lake Forest Park and Kenmore, has a vacancy in Commissioner Position #2. Additionally, Commissioner Position #4 is anticipated to be vacated in January of 2019.

The vacancies will be filled by appointment with terms lasting through the end of 2019. Both positions are scheduled for election in the November 2019 General Election.

Commissioners act as the board of directors for the fire department. If you are interested in serving your community as Fire Commissioner, please submit a letter of interest and statement of qualifications to the district’s Board Secretary no later than 5:00 pm on November 20th, 2018.

Solicitation of Committee Members for 2019 Voters’ Pamphlet

In conjunction with the special election to be held on February 12, 2019, King County Fire Protection District No. 16 will be submitting to the voters of the Fire District a proposition that would re-authorize the use of the fire benefit charge method of financing pursuant to Chapter 52.18 RCW.

As part of the process, the District will be participating in the King County Voters’ Pamphlet and is requesting applications from District residents interested in serving on the pro and con committees to prepare statements in favor of and in opposition to the ballot measure for publication in the pamphlet. There is a limit of three members per committee, and those selected must be willing to work within a group as appointed.

A letter of interest and statement of qualifications should be submitted by interested persons and must be received by the fire district at the address below no later than 5:00 pm on November 6, 2018.

Notice of 2019 Budget Hearing

To all residents and owners of personal property and improvements to real property located within the geographical boundaries of King County Fire Protection District No. 16 (City of Lake Forest Park, and the City of Kenmore);

NOTICE IS HERBY GIVEN that the Board of Commissioners of King County Fire Protection District No. 16 will hold a public hearing at the date, time and place specified below to:

  1. Review the proposed 2019 budget and revenue sources including revenue from property taxes and possible increases in property tax revenues, if any, as required by RCW 84.55.120; and
  2. Review and establish the Fire District’s benefit charges to be imposed in year 2019 for the support of its legally authorized activities, which will maintain or improve the services afforded in the District, as provided in RCW 52.18.060.

9/11 Memorial Viewing

Tuesday, September 11th, will mark the 17th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon buildings. We have a 9/11 Memorial honoring the nearly 3,000 civilian and 343 firefighter fatalities located in the lobby of our headquarters station in Kenmore. The memorial includes a small piece of steel from one of the World Trade Center towers. Our lobby is open to the public from 7:30am-4:30pm for anyone wishing to stop and visit the memorial next Tuesday.


Open House this Saturday, June 16th!

Don't forget that this Saturday, June 16th, is Northshore Fire's annual Open House & Pancake Breakfast at Station 51 in Kenmore. We have kid firefighter challenge courses, informational booths, firefighter demonstrations, a pancake breakfast, and more.  Bring your family, friends, and come join the fun!

Open House: 9:00-12:00

Pancake Breakfast: 9:00-11:00

Firefighter Demonstrations: 10:00-10:30


Notice of Intent to Award – Air Compressor

On December 20, 2018, the District advertised a request for sealed bids for the following: One (1) 10 HP SCBA Compressor, One (1) Breathing Apparatus Cylinder Fill Station and Four (4) ASME Storage Cylinders.

The opportunity to submit a bid closed at 5:00 PM on January 16th. Three bids were received and opened at the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners at 5:15 PM on that same day.
