Northshore Fire Department Banner

Historically speaking, firefighters work in this occupation because they want to positively impact the communities they serve. It is for this reason the Northshore firefighters formed a specific group to focus on areas to give to, in our local communities. Our charitable group started out with the name of “Philanthropy Committee”. We believed the definition of philanthropy being, “the effort or inclination to increase the well-being of humankind, as by charitable aid or donations” met the goals for our committee.

Our group then grew to include more than just firefighters. The Board of Commissioners, Chiefs, Fire Prevention and Administrative staff wanted to participate in our program. “From the Heart” grew from the administrative participation in the charitable arena. From the Heart operated slightly different than our Philanthropy program, but paralleled in mission and vision. We have successfully operated both programs (volunteer based programs that personnel participate in outside of work) for three years.

As our programs have matured we sought to encompass both project groups and find a more suitable name.  Our chosen name for this is single group is simply: The Northshore Fire Foundation. We now have given identity and recognition to the entire Northshore Fire Department Family. So, when you see us out there, read our name in the paper, or hear of our name you will know who we are and why we’re involved in our local community.
